Art at the Farm

Over the years I would gaze at the beautiful chalkboard drawings each time I visited the local farm. Actually, I would look forward to each new creation. To my surprise, earlier this year, I was asked to continue the project. 

After, I finished the first one, I found out that I really enjoyed drawing them and loved coming up with ideas for each event. Every day, I'm grateful that I've been asked to share my creative talents.

After drawing the first chalkboard, I was asked to create other posters and signs.

I also set up a display for one of the weekend events including the tri-fold, "The Wonders of Wool", small tags and a couple speech bubbles with cheeky wool sayings. Everything else was created by other artists.

There are many more farm projects on the list that will be posted as soon as they are accomplished.

It began after all the busyness of the holidays.  My mind would go straight to creative endeavors though my hand didn't follow until much later.  Inspiration flowed through old books, collage, color, shapes, memories of coloring books, a wonderful group art experience at my cousin April's baby shower, browsing endless art books and creative blogs. One moment a few weeks ago, I jumped right in...the first painting was a springboard to what followed.

Zentangle in Color

The first Art Experience began with the idea of doing portraits... I stumbled upon a couple of artists Linda Lovenstein and Ana Strumpf. Both are redesigning fashion magazine pictures with a zentangle, colorful feel.  It reminded me of a pen and ink artwork I did when I was 8 years old, filling in spaces with lines and shapes. These artists brought it a step further by using color, which I love!

Using chalk markers, I began filling in the spaces. It's the relaxing movement of the color gliding across the glossy print that brings joy and serenity to the moment. One that I would continue to do without stopping for hours on end reminding me of the times I spent as a child drawing and doodling.

After a couple portraits, I wanted to use other images. I found some black and white pictures and then moved onto animals. Now I want to experiment with my own photos! Yea! The experience never ends!
