Pencil Drawings

I have been attending a drawing class for a few years, some quiet time to draw, draw, draw.  It's a relaxing two hours every week where I'm in that far off place doing something I love, drawing.
The instructor is using sight size and comparative head methods, which I've learned before in little bits here and there, so I enjoy that the methods are all coming together in one place.
The drawings above are not original drawings in the sense that they don't come from my imagination, but reflect the sight size method.

More Treasures

These growing ferns were sighted on a walk at the Gooseberry Falls State Park.  There were many popping out of the ground and these two caught my eye.  It reminded me of a story my father told me about relationships.  When two people are immersed, clinging to each other, they will drown themselves.  Though when they are side by side, sometimes at the same or different paces, they grow and thrive.

This morel was found in my mom's garden.  It was very exciting to hear my mom cheer with delight in finding her first one...then we started to see more and more hidden in the dry leaves...there's one and another and another!

North Shore Treasure

It was mid-May on the North Shore when Enzo found his treasure.  He was on top of a mountain of rock looking over the edge saying, "I found a treasure! Come and see it!"  We were all looking at the stones and pebbles, picking up the ones that caught our eye to examine carefully and gently put in our pockets.  "You must come now!"  he said insistently.  It was difficult to pull away from the stones, though a treasure awaited us.  What could it be?

Looking over the edge, we saw layer upon layer of ice, so thin it looked like glass...when stones were thrown on the ice, it sounded like shattering glass... when it was picked up, it melted in our hands. It was a true treasure given by nature, discovered by a boy.

Thinking of Van Gogh

                             Blossoms on Blue

On Sunday, I was reminded of one of my favorite paintings, Blossoming Almond Tree by Vincent Van Gogh.
